News UINL has lost a great President
28/02/2024 It is with deep regret that the UINL learned this morning of the death of its Honorary President, Italian notary Giancarlo LAURINI.
Giancarlo LAURINI was President of the UINL from 2005 to 2007, and was still very much involved in the life of the Union.
The International Union of Notaries would like to pay tribute to this great "figure" of the world Notariat, who will remain engraved in all memories.
A look back at his career
Giancarlo LAURINI's Presidency (2005-2007) was particularly active, both in developing internal relations between member Notariats and in his external relations with international organizations, and thus made a major contribution to consolidating the presence of the Latin Notariat on the world stage.
Born in 1938 in Tito, in the province of Potenza, from an Italian father and a Paraguayan mother, he became a notary in Naples in 1969.
Professor of Commercial Law at the FEDERICO II University of Naples, the oldest state University in the world, Giancarlo LAURINI has written numerous scientific and professional publications.
He founded and directed the magazine NOTARIATO and several editorial series for the Wolters Kluwer group.
Involved in political and social activities, he was a Member of the Italian Parliament, a member of the National Council for the Economy and Labor, a Commissioner of the National Order of Chartered Accountants, and also chaired the Italian Professions Committee.
President of the National Council of the Italian Notariat from 1991 to 1998 and from 2010 to 2013, he has always conciliated his commitment to the Italian notariat with his devotion to UINL.
In 1992, under his presidency, the National Notarial Council unanimously approved his proposal to establish UINL's Administrative Secretariat in Rome.
From 1989 to 1992, he was Secretary and Councillor of the UINL. He was elected President in Mexico City in 2004, for the 2005-2007 triennium. Three years of intense activity during which President Laurini travelled more than 160,000 kilometers (six times round the world) on every continent, getting to know more closely the complexity of different professional realities.
He then took on other important functions within UINL, and was President of the Council of Notariats of the European Union (CNUE) between 1995 and 1996.
He never abandoned his love of and commitment to UINL, even in the years following his Presidency and when he returned to head the Italian Notariat in 2010. Indeed, he always endeavoured to ensure that "his" Notariat would continue to bring to the Union the same human and organizational energy that he himself had given, with great generosity.
