21/10/2024 For the second time in this legislature, the President of the College of Notaries of Catalonia, José Alberto MARIN SANCHEZ, welcomed the European Affairs Commission and its President, Italian notary Valentina Rubertelli, to Barcelona.
The meeting opened on October 17th with the traditional session of the European Notarial Academy on the theme of unmarried couples in Europe: de facto unions, civil unions and registered partnerships.
Civil law professors Esperanza GINEBRA MOLINS and Elena LAUROBA LACASA and private international law professor Cristina GONZALEZ BEILFUSS took part in the round table, along with notaries from Belgium (Not. Alain Deliège), Italy (Not. Gianfilippo Laurini), Croatia (Not. Hana Hoblaj), Greece (Not. Christina Chatzidandi) and Latvia (Not. Ilze Metuzāle). They presented the various alternatives to marriage existing in their legislation (registered partnerships, de facto cohabitation and civil unions), highlighting the diversity of regimes and forms of union possible in Europe. The round table was moderated by the Vice-Dean of the College of Notaries of Catalonia, Raquel IGLESIAS PAJARES.
The CAE plenary session took place the following day (October 18), allowing each European delegate to present his or her national report.
