Meeting of the European Affairs Commission in Barcelona

21/10/2023

On October 19 and 20, the College of Notaries of Catalonia (CNC) hosted the UINL European Affairs Commission (CAE) in Barcelona, the CAE's semi-permanent headquarters for the past ten years.

The event brought together notaries from all over Europe, totaling some one hundred professionals from 41 countries.

The meeting opened with the traditional session of the Notarial Academy, held in the auditorium of the Notarial Chamber of Catalonia, located in the Street of Notariat. The theme of this year's session was the future of the reserved share in Europe. Each country showed how children were protected in their succession systems. Speakers at the round table, moderated by CAE President Valentina Rubertelli, included: Jesús Gómez Taboada, notary in Barcelona and Professor at the International University of Catalonia (UIC), Philippe Potentier, notary in France, Federico Tassinari, notary in Italy, Corinne Zimmerli, notary in Switzerland, and Fanny Orsini, Scrivener notary in London. Pr. Elena Lauroba Lacasa, Professor of Civil Law at the University of Barcelona (UB), presented the summary of the works.

President Valentina Rubertelli concluded the meeting with recommendations and ideas for future reform projects in Europe.

The CAE plenary session took place the following day, in the magnificent hall of the Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA), in the presence of all the European delegates and the President of the College of Notaries of Catalonia, José Alberto MARIN SANCHEZ.
