Entry into force of European regulations on matrimonial property regimes and registered partnerships

29/01/2019

European regulations 2016/1103 on matrimonial property regimes and 2016/1104 on the property consequences of registered partnerships are now being implemented as part of a reinforced cooperation procedure involving 18 European Union member states.

If the regulations unify the rules of conflict of laws between these 18 Member States only in order to determine the applicable law and the jurisdiction competent in these two major matters, the law designated by the application of the said regulations applies even if this law is not that of a Member State (universal application).
